WhatsApp Business API: price by category and bulk sending for business

Connect the official Meta WhatsApp Business API to your company and start sending bulk WhatsApp messages to your customers with approved templates, campaigns from Excel, a 24-hour window managed automatically and published prices per category in euros — something almost nobody in Spain dares to do.

  • From €0.005 per message
  • No per-line fee and no set-up cost
  • Opt-in and GDPR handled
  • Balance that never expires

What the WhatsApp Business API is and why your company needs it

WhatsApp is the app where your customers already talk. The WhatsApp Business API is Meta's official way for your software to speak that language: automatic notices, campaigns and customer service, under your verified business name.

WhatsApp Business (app) versus the WhatsApp Business API

The free app works for a small shop: one main device, broadcasts of at most 256 contacts and everything done by hand. The WhatsApp API for business removes those limits: bulk sending with approved templates, integration with your CRM or ecommerce, multiple agents and delivery and read statistics per message.

Send bulk WhatsApp messages to businesses and customers without risking your number

Sending bulk WhatsApp messages with unofficial tools (phones with SIM cards, WhatsApp Web automations) always ends the same way: a blocked number and lost customers. With Meta's WhatsApp Business API through SMSverifica you send with your verified number and your business name, respecting Meta's policies and the GDPR.

  • WhatsApp campaigns from Excel/CSV with variables per contact.
  • WhatsApp Business templates managed: name, language and variables.
  • Real-time statuses: sent, delivered, read — also by signed webhook.
  • Incoming replies recorded: the 24-hour window opens and is managed on its own.
  • Several channels, one balance: combine WhatsApp with bulk SMS or Telegram, choosing the channel on each send.

Approved WhatsApp Business templates: how they work

To start a conversation with a customer, Meta requires an approved template. It is not an obstacle: it is what keeps WhatsApp free of spam and makes sure your messages get read.

1. Write it and submit it for approval

Create your template with variables — "Hi {{1}}, a reminder of your appointment on {{2}} at {{3}}" — and choose its category (marketing, utility or authentication). Meta reviews it, usually within minutes and at most within 24-48 hours.

2. Send with variables per contact

From the dashboard or through the API you set template_name and template_vars and each customer receives their personalised message. Bulk WhatsApp campaigns fill in the variables from the columns of your Excel file.

3. Measure deliveries and reads

WhatsApp confirms delivered and read per message: you see it in the campaign statistics in real time and receive it in your system through signed webhooks. Adjust templates and timing with data, not intuition.

The WhatsApp 24-hour window, explained once and for all

When a customer writes to your WhatsApp Business number, Meta opens a 24-hour service window. Within that window you can reply with free text (no template) at the cheapest rate: the service category, €0.005 per message. Each new message from the customer restarts the clock.

Outside the window, to start the conversation yourself you need an approved template in the marketing, utility or authentication category. SMSverifica checks the window automatically: if you try to send free text outside it, the API responds with the clear error wa_outside_window instead of charging you for a message that Meta would reject.

A strategy that saves money: send the first notice with a utility template and handle the rest of the conversation within the window at the service price. Your average cost per conversation drops without touching a line of code.

WhatsApp Business API price in Spain: by category and in euros

Meta charges by conversation category. While other providers hide the WhatsApp price behind a “contact sales”, we publish it: this is what we charge you for each message, VAT extra, with a balance in euros.

Our price per WhatsApp Business API message, by conversation category
Category What it is for Our price per message Example
Service Replies within the 24 h window 0,005 € Conversational customer service
Utility Transactional notices: orders, appointments, payments 0,005 € "Your order 8412 arrives tomorrow"
Authentication OTP codes and user verification 0,005 € "Your access code is 481922"
Marketing Promotions, news, abandoned-cart recovery 0,005 € "Sale: 20% off this week in your shop"

What this price includes and what it does not. It is our price per message sent: platform, campaigns, templates, statuses, webhooks and support. Meta bills you its conversation fees separately, on your own WhatsApp Business account, because the channel works with your line and your credentials. We do not resell those fees or add a margin to them, so you cannot pay them twice — but do count them when you do your sums. Meta publishes its prices by country and category in its official developer documentation.

Work out the price of your WhatsApp campaign

Prepaid in euros, no fees and no lock-in. Your balance never expires. Prices excl. VAT. On WhatsApp this is our price per message: Meta bills its conversation fees separately.

Transparency versus “ask for a price”: most Spanish platforms do not publish what the WhatsApp Business API costs. Here you have the price by category, the full price table and a calculator. The price is the same whether you send 100 or 100,000 messages: there are no volume tiers. If your volume justifies a tailored rate, ask for it and it is applied to your account message by message.

No monthly fee for the WhatsApp line: the difference is €99 before you send anything

A good part of the cost of WhatsApp Business in Spain is not in the messages: it is in the monthly plan that some providers charge for having the line connected.

Cost of 500 WhatsApp messages a month (utility category), excl. VAT
Item SMSverifica Another Spanish provider
WhatsApp line fee €0/month €99.00/month
Sign-up / set-up (one-off payment) 0 € €49.00 non-refundable
500 utility messages 2,50 € According to their rate
Meta's conversation fees Separate, billed to you by Meta Separate
First year, fees and set-up only 0 € 1.237 €

Figures taken from the activation screen of the «WhatsApp Business Accounts» plan in a Spanish provider's dashboard, checked on 2 August 2026: €99.00/month per WhatsApp line, €49.00 set-up cost (one-off payment), non-refundable registration and start-up costs. We do not compare their price per message because they do not publish it.

Why we do not charge that fee

Because the line is yours. You connect your WhatsApp Business account (Meta Cloud API) with your own credentials and we provide the platform: campaigns, templates, the 24 h window, statuses, webhooks and API. If you do not send in a given month, you pay nothing that month.

What you need to know before deciding

  • You need a business account verified by Meta and a number of your own that is not in the WhatsApp app. Meta verifies it, not us.
  • Sign-up takes days, not minutes: business verification and line registration depend on Meta's timelines.
  • Meta charges for its conversations separately and can change its rates and its category policy whenever it wants.
  • If you would rather not deal with any of that, tell us and we will help you with the sign-up — still with no fee.

Prefer a channel with no Meta verification and no approved templates? Bulk SMS only depend on your account being approved here, and Telegram costs €0.010 per message, on condition that the recipient has started the conversation with your bot first: Telegram does not allow writing to a number, so it works for notifying people who already follow you, not for a new list.

Send WhatsApp messages from your software with a multichannel REST API

The same endpoint you use for SMS sends WhatsApp templates: change channel and add the template. With idempotency, signed status webhooks (delivered, read) and a sandbox mode at no cost.

terminal — send a WhatsApp template through the API
curl -X POST https://app.smsverifica.com/api/v1/messages \
  -H "X-Api-Key: sk_live_..." \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: cita-2931-recordatorio" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "channel": "whatsapp",
    "to": "+34600111222",
    "template_name": "recordatorio_cita",
    "template_vars": {"1": "Marta", "2": "12/07", "3": "10:30"},
    "category": "utility"
  }'

# Response with the status and the cost in euros
{ "data": { "id": 5312, "status": "queued",
    "channel": "whatsapp", "cost_eur": "0.0050" } }

Everything a developer expects (and cannot find in Spain)

  • Idempotent sending with the Idempotency-Key header: no duplicates even if you retry.
  • Signed webhooks for the sent, delivered, read, failed statuses and incoming messages, with retries and backoff.
  • Campaigns API: create a bulk WhatsApp campaign with POST /campaigns; none of the platforms we compared in July 2026 had one.
  • Sandbox mode at no cost: test templates, statuses and errors before you spend a euro.
  • Real multichannel: the same JSON contract for SMS, WhatsApp and Telegram.

WhatsApp opt-in and the GDPR: send with consent and sleep soundly

Meta requires — and so does the GDPR — that the customer has given their consent (opt-in) to receive WhatsApp messages from your company: a checkbox at checkout, a sign-up form, a keyword by SMS or a conversation started by them. Without opt-in, user complaints lower your number's quality rating until template sending is blocked.

SMSverifica stores the opt-in status per contact so you have it in front of you when you prepare each list. Automatic filtering at send time does not exist yet: today it is you who leaves contacts without consent out of the list before launching the campaign. Also, as every account is approved manually, no spammer shares the platform with you or puts the reputation of the service at risk.

  • Opt-in flag per contact in your dashboard address book, in view when you prepare each list.
  • Opt-out link in every campaign with {BAJA}: whoever opts out goes onto your opt-out list and campaigns always leave them out. An opt-out sent as a WhatsApp reply is not interpreted: you add it to that list yourself.
  • Servers in the EU and Spanish invoicing with VAT.
  • Accounts verified by hand, one by one, before they can send.

Frequently asked questions about the WhatsApp Business API

What is the WhatsApp Business API?

It is Meta's official interface for connecting WhatsApp to your company's software (CRM, ERP, ecommerce): it lets you send approved templates, bulk campaigns and automatic notices, with several agents and without depending on a mobile phone. It is the legal, scalable way to send bulk WhatsApp messages to customers.

What is the difference between WhatsApp Business (app) and the WhatsApp Business API?

The WhatsApp Business app is free but limited: one main device, broadcasts of at most 256 contacts and no integration with your software. The API is paid per message, with no practical limit on recipients, approved templates, automation and statistics: it is the option for companies that send notices or campaigns in volume.

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost in Spain?

Our price per message, according to Meta's conversation category: service €0.005, utility €0.005, authentication €0.005 and marketing €0.005. No monthly fee for the line, no set-up cost and no lock-in. Meta bills its conversation fees separately, on your own WhatsApp Business account: our price does not include them or add a margin to them.

What is the WhatsApp 24-hour window?

When a customer writes to you, a 24-hour service window opens during which you can reply with free text at the service category price. Outside that window, you can only start a conversation with a template approved by Meta. SMSverifica manages the window automatically and warns you with the error wa_outside_window if you try free text outside it.

Do I need consent (opt-in) to send WhatsApp messages to my customers?

Yes. Meta and the GDPR require the recipient to have agreed to receive messages from your company by WhatsApp: a checkbox on your website, a form, a previous SMS or a conversation started by the customer. SMSverifica records the opt-in per contact so you can prove it in audits and avoid your number being blocked.

What are WhatsApp Business templates and how long do they take to be approved?

They are messages with formatting and variables ({{1}}, {{2}}) that Meta reviews and approves before they can be sent outside the 24-hour window. Approval usually takes from minutes to 24-48 hours. With SMSverifica you send them by setting template_name and template_vars from the dashboard or the API.
